With over 15 years of experience across Prosthetics & Orthotics and broader healthcare roles, Amelia has brought together a diverse range of skills and experiences to establish Ortho Advantage — a service uniquely adapted to the Gippsland community.
Early in her career, Amelia worked in the Solomon Islands, teaching Ponseti casting methods and boots-and-bars techniques from Strathclyde University. She founded an amputation prevention program and community partnership project with one of the Solomon Islands’ largest coconut oil producers to employ people with disabilities in making coconut bowls for retail. Amelia has also worked extensively in Australia, including roles at Westmead Children’s Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, and Bass Coast Health.
Outside of Prosthetics & Orthotics, Amelia has pursued diverse interests — from sailing and riding to London via the west coast, to applying P&O skills in pottery, hempcrete building, and cabinetry.
Amelia Bright studied Prosthetics & Orthotics at La Trobe University and has gained valuable experience working in hospitals and community health services throughout Australia, Haiti and Vanuatu. Since returning to Gippsland she has made a significant impact on the Gippsland community by founding several businesses dedicated to improving accessibility to locally grown foods.
Amelia is committed to finding prosthetic solutions tailored to rural life and its unique conditions. Her passion is improving socket comfort and finding meaningful adaptations to daily life tasks for her clients.
At the Seating and Wheelchair Clinic, she applies her extensive knowledge of prosthetic technology to powered wheelchairs, ensuring patients receive the most advanced, personalised care available.
Outside of work, Amelia cares for a farm of happy pigs, enjoys a good book, a game of basketball, and is raising three children.
